Parafraseando Manifiestos: Grupo Opium

Tras muchos titubeos y fracasos de diversos calibres, QUERIDO MIES vuelve a la calle, a dialogar con los amigos y los enemigos de siempre y con los que, esperamos, se agregarán a la lista a partir de este nuevo engendro... siempre en una obstinada persecución de la arquitectura y los arquitectos, intentamos dar una idea, un panorama de aquellos que a nuestro criterio están verdaderamente metidos hasta la médula en este oficio que "debe ser de interés para todos", oficio que, por cierto, no es exclusivo de exquisitos ni intelectuales ni amplios señores más o menos beneficiosos, como algunos (quizás muchos) parecen creer. Nosotros no creemos que sea así y, por lo tanto, estamos empeñados, en la medida de nuestras posibilidades, en una lucha tendiente a desterrar ese falso concepto.

      Nosotros: QUERIDO MIES.

    QUERIDO MIES dando a conocer arquitecturas: arquitecturas nuestras, de ustedes, de ellos; la de los desarraigados a las últimas tendencias, de los invisibles al ojo cotidiano y los sicarios del Bien; de los que sentados en sus tableros reflexionan años, días y horas. Arquitectura de los asombrados, de los que buscan denodadamente la belleza.

      Estamos unidos porque creemos comprendernos; al menos lo intentamos. 

    Nos conocimos en concursos, en bares, en confusas entregas a las tres de la mañana. Nos conocimos cursando juntos en facultades, donde nos dijeron que tal o cual nos salvarían; nos miramos a los ojos y sonreímos: ninguno quería ser salvado.

    Algunos de los que hayan llegado hasta aquí sin ponerse histéricos opinarán que lo que pensamos lo podemos "decir" con la arquitectura: es lo que tratamos de hacer (y no solo lo que pensamos; sino lo que sentimos, intuimos, percibimos apenas y lo que no) a pesar del trabajo que nos da...

      En QUERIDO MIES la arquitectura es el hecho fundamental. Es.

   Nosotros, buscadores, eternos buscadores, decimos como René Char: "La Arquitectura me robará mi muerte".

     Quisiéramos decir algo más. Pero tememos..., tememos...

PARAFRÁSIS/PARAFRASEAR: 1- Explicación o interpretación amplificativa de un texto para ilustrarlo o hacerlo más claro o inteligible. 2- Traducción en verso en la cual se imita el original, sin verterlo con escrupulosa exactitud. 3- Frase que, imitando en su estructura a otra conocida, se formula con palabras diferentes. 

PARAPHRASING MANIFESTOS: OPIUM GROUP

After many hesitations and failures of various calibers, QUERIDO MIES returns to the streets, to dialogue with friends and the usual enemies with whom, we hope, the list will grow from this new spawn... always in the obstinate persecution of architecture and architects, we try to give an idea, a panorama of those who in our own opinion are truly involved to the core in this profession that "should be of public interest", a profession that, by the way, is no exclusive of exquisites neither intellectuals nor broad gentlemen more or less beneficial, as some (perhaps many) seem to believe. We do not believe that this is the case and, therefore, we are engaged, to the best of our ability, in a struggle to banish this false concept.

      We: QUERIDO MIES.

    QUERIDO MIES introducing architectures: our architectures, yous, theirs; that of those uprooted to the latest trends, of those invisible to the common eye and the hitmen´s of Good; of those who, sitting at their drafting tables, reflect for years, days and hours. Architecture of the astonished, of those merged in the everlasting seek of beauty.

      We are united because we believe we understand each other,; at least we tried.

We met at competitions, in bars, in confusing workings at three in the morning. We met while studying together in small classrooms, where they told us that this or that would save us; we looked into each other´s eyes and smiled: none wanted to be saved. 

      Those who come this far without getting hysterical will think that what we think we can "say it" with architecture: it is what we try to do (and not only what we think; but what we feel, intuit, barely perceive and what we don´t) despite the work it gives us...

      In QUERIDO MIES architecture is the fundamental fact. It is.

      We, seekers, eternal seekers, as René Char use to say: "Architecture will steal my death".

      We would like to say something else. But we fear..., we fear...

A LITTLE BIT OF CONTEXT

Opium was an Argentinean, four-issue underground magazine published between 1963 - 1967. Contemporary to the "Beatnik" movement in the U.S. The Opium group seek their own revolution. It was the search for chaos, in chaos itself. Every issue started with some sort of manifest, which tended to be transgressive and somehow heroic. The original opium group was composed by mariani (Without capital letter, nor name, just mariani), Ruy Rodriguez, Sergio Mulet and Isidoro Laufer. These four founders managed to publish their own books in the late 60s, but very few of them had a second edition.

PARAPHRASING/PARAPHRASE: 1- To repeat something written or spoken using different words. 2- Translation in verse in which the original is imitated, without rendering it with scrupulous accuracy. 3- Phrase that, imitating in its structure to another known one, is formulated with different words.
